From the Oil Painter's Journal:

Hey! That's My View

I painted this on a beautiful day at one of my favorite painting spots. Nobody was on the beach and there were countless views to chose from: the grassy bank over the pond; the rocks against the cliff; the keeper's view from above. And while others may have chosen the vista across the Sound, on this day I was attracted to the shadows playing across the tire tracks in the sand. Not the typical mantle painting.

It takes an open mind to find the right painting spot -- somewhere new and a fresh idea. It takes imagination to visualize a composition and it takes knowledge of how environmental conditions will change. I heard a car farther down the fence and footsteps approach from behind. It was a photographer. He said, "I hope you don't mind." and stood right in front of me and shot my view!
