Doug Rugh CM, paints oil portraits out of his studio at the Osborn & Rugh Gallery in Falmouth, Massachusetts on Cape Cod. Portraits can be painted of children or adults, single or group poses, simple or complex backgrounds and can include props. Sizes can range from as small as a miniature head & shoulders to a large corporate full figure. Style can be spontaneous as in a single session from life, or fully rendered where photographs supplement or replace sittings. Memorial and pet paintings can be done from photographs. The artist will also work from a favorite photograph supplied by the client.

Process: Doug takes photographs with special lighting in the studio in a session that takes about half an hour. Subjects may choose to sit for the artist (sitting is optional) so that he can add the final touches to the painting. Portraits generally take from 3 weeks to 3 months based on complexity and size.
